The Greek partner ASSERTED KNOWLEDGE is currently developing the SmartHome4SENIORS Kit, which aims at promoting a healthy and safe lifestyle for the elderly through educational and practical learning.
Indeed, within the scope of the project, the use of this kit, based on the needs identified in the survey phase of the first project result, should offer them a great opportunity to enter the world of DIY smart home automation solutions that will facilitate their daily life and enhance their safety while allowing them to acquire new skills.
This kit addresses a dynamic educational process, providing physical equipment and a complete infrastructure. The combination of physical computing and programming principles with hardware and software can certainly be considered an engaging and innovative learning experience, even for older people.
The use of the kit also helps to motivate seniors to engage and learn about new technologies and tools that can make their lives easier.
What is next?
AKNOW has already presented the virtual prototype to the project partners and presented it in more detail, again virtually, at the partners' meeting in Paris in May 2023.
Based on the final design, 28 kits will be developed, 4 for each partner, as well as a user manual explaining in detail the kit components and their use.
The partners will meet again from 20 to 22 June 2023, this time in Athens, to see the kits in action and learn how to use them. They will then be able to use the same kits in their own countries and have them used and tested by seniors in the following months.
The use of these kits is therefore innovative and different from other projects submitted to the Erasmus + funding, as the partners and the target group will be provided with material to facilitate learning and make it more fun and motivating.
Stay tuned for future communications on this topic!
